{"id":1217,"date":"2009-06-10T18:10:50","date_gmt":"2009-06-10T23:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.privatepracticemarketingroundtable.com\/ppmr-members\/?p=1217"},"modified":"2009-06-10T18:10:50","modified_gmt":"2009-06-10T23:10:50","slug":"speed-stuns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.privatepracticemarketingroundtable.com\/ppmr-members\/archives\/speed-stuns","title":{"rendered":"Speed Stuns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>(From the Archives, 2004)\u00a0 Some posts from &#8220;yesteryear&#8221; are worth pulling out and running again.\u00a0\u00a0 With all that&#8217;s keeping most business people busy these days, this one seems timely.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I was chatting with Paulette Ensign of Tips Booklets the other day and she shared with me a conversation she recently had with a client on response times.\u00a0 Her client had spoken of his approach regarding response times, ending with the statement <em>\u201cSpeed Stuns\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s right.<\/p>\n<p>Most clients find a quick response surprising. \u00a0They notice it \u2013 and it immediately sets you apart.\u00a0 There are plenty of opportunities for speedy responses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>emails (try same day responses)<\/li>\n<li>voice mail (same day \u2013 even if just an acknowledgement)<\/li>\n<li>commitments made at networking events to call and set-up a lunch together (next day)<\/li>\n<li>commitments to schedule a meeting (same day \u2013 if it needs to be coordinated, send acknowledgement and projected timetable)<\/li>\n<li>commitments to send materials or other follow-up items (get them in the mail same day).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With all the delays, back burners, good intentions and so forth that one experiences today, when a client gets a genuinely quick response \u2013 even a simple acknowledgement \u2013 it stuns them.<\/p>\n<p>It happened to me recently.<\/p>\n<p>I filled in one of those little forms on a website with a question I had.\u00a0 I really needed to get that information right away but response times from forms on many websites are known to take several days, if you ever hear anything at all.<\/p>\n<p>I fully expected to have to wait.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t believe it when I got a response from a live person within 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><em>Speed Stuns.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Try it sometimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Response times in today&#8217;s busy world can be the difference between standing out from the crowd and a lost opportunity.
